Experience That Prepares You
Hear from Anna and Dr. Branson About Social Work Preparation at SEMO

A Full Semester Focused on Field Work
Dr. Dana Branson was a practicing social worker for 21 years before coming to teach at SEMO. Together, the social work faculty brings more than 60 years of experience in the field, helping prepare you for the realities you will face day to day as a social worker.
Along with faculty guidance and expertise, students in the social work program complete a required practicum with a local agency during their final semester. This entails 448 hours of managing your own caseload, much like you will as a licensed, practicing social worker. As Dr. Branson put it, "Our students aren't just at an agency shadowing, they're at an agency working."
